Latest info available to me indicates "You Go Your Way,I'll Go My Way" was a song for which JM provided both words and music although I had originally thought the composer was Robert Emmet Dolan.I have an off-air recording of this song performed by Margaret Whiting but ,so far, nobody to whom I have mentioned it seems to have heard of it.It's one of his last songs and , in view of its lyric, must be of special interest to Mercer fans.

The Johnny Mercer website is a great discovery.I was 10 when I first heard a Mercer lyric sung by a small child at a school concert in London. In my teens I remember him as a performer on record with Judy Garland("Friendship")and "The Waiter ....etc".Does anybody know one og his last songs, music by Robert Emmet Dolan, and called "You Go Your Way,I'll Go My Way", recorded by Margaret Whiting? It has a wonderful elegiac quality.

I'm a singer of jazz and pop standards from the 1920s to the 1950s. Without a doubt, Johnny Mercer is my favorite lyricist and I often mention this on my gigs because I always include his songs in my repertoire. He was definitely a genius.

My father Marshall Robbins was Johnny's music publisher for 28 years. Just my father aand Johnny in an ofice in Hollywood. Also, my grandfather Jack Robbins had him under contract at MGM before he went to Paramount. Absolutely the greatest of America's lyricists. He once told me, "there are more words then music notes", always remembered that and I tell the writers I work with today the same thing.

I have been a johnny mercer fan for years. I remember his weekly tv show. He was always sitting at the piano. I am trying to break in as a record producer and the two songs by johnny that i would like to record are "dream" and "somethings gotta give". I read where johnny wrote more than 1,100 songs durning his career. That is truly remarkable.

The program will start at 11 a.m. You can tune in to WSVH at 91.1FM from Charleston south to Richmond Hill; and WWIO at 89.1 FM from there south to the Florida border. I have linked this site to the WSVH home page at wsvh.org; hopefully some more folks will find out about this great site, and this remarkable man! Could you let me know who administers this site? I couldn't find a link. Thanks!

Happy 90th! My mother, Deloris Gibson, worked as a secretary for you when you first started Capitol Records in Los Angeles during the war. As a child she often talked about you and what a special man you were and how nice you were to her and the other girls from Idaho. She now lives in Boise, Idaho near my home and has many fond memories of her days at Capitol Records. I hope your memories are as happy as hers. Have a terrific 90th! She celebrates her 76th birthday this year on November 12th!

Hi Steve, David Jenkins gave me your address. I'm Johnny's niece. My mother is his sister. He also was my godfather and I spent many hours with him. I was actuallly raised by my grandmother, johnny's mother. By the way, I called him "Uncle Bubba." My mother called him Bubba and so....I 'm not going to Atlanta sadly but my husband and at least one son is. And I don't think I can make Sav. either. And that is a disappointment. I would love to hear from you. I was just out in CA visiting Mandy and James. WE had a lot of fun reminiscing. Write if you have time.Best Nancy

I visit Savannah constantly and grew up with Johnny Mercer's songs. (I am a 73 chronologically gifted great grandma). I recently visited his home on Burnside Island and the people there were absolutely charming and wonderful!!! I will be returning to Tybee Island in May, 2000. The Mercer house on Monterey Square had the name "Mercer Wilder" house on the sign when I first visited in 1993 but then it became only the Mercer house later. I looked up the history of the original building and found that while Johnny Mercer's great grandfather had began the building of the house and as you know it was interrupted by the Civil War - a man named John Wilder completed the building of the house but did not live there (or not that I can find). Naturally this increases my interest in this house. My maternal grandmother was born near Atlanta in 1861 and so I feel very at home in Georgia!!

The last time I signed the guest book was probably a couple of years ago. I've been a fan since the start. I note some questions about a Johnny Mercer biography. Of course, it is "Our Huccleberry Friend". But I notice Amazon.com lists it as "Out of stock." Why don't you (with your considerable influence) campaign the publisher to get it re-issued?
